I will discuss some recent joint work with Yongxiong Li which shows how one can use Iwasawa theory at the neglected prime p=2 to prove stronger versions of an old theorem of David Rohrlich on the non-vanishing of Birch-Swinnerton L-values of the Gross family of elliptic curves with complex multiplication, and discuss some possible generalisations.
