Breaking New Ground with Targeted Protein Degradation
Targeted protein degradation offers an exciting paradigm in drug discovery by selectively reprogramming cellular machinery to eliminate disease-driving proteins. My work explores molecular glue degraders—small molecules with remarkable clinical potential, but historically discovered serendipitously.
I will delve into how we uncovered new examples of molecular glue degraders and illuminated how they work through genetic screening, structure-activity relationships, diverse cellular and biophysical assays, and structural studies. These insights guide the rational design of this promising drug modality and open the door to exploring the many fascinating mechanisms by which small molecules can induce degradation, unlocking new therapeutic possibilities.
