- Improve sustainable forest management to address climate change, biodiversity loss, and demand for forest products.
- Promote interaction between scientists and practitioners for solution-oriented approaches.
- Contribute to ecosystem stability and encourage adoption of innovative, evidence-based forestry practices.
- Primary Topics:
- Innovative, integrative forest management for climate change adaptation/mitigation.
- Promotion of biodiversity and resilient ecosystem services.
- Sustainable forest product supply.
- Secondary Focus:
- Tools or incentives for behavioral change in forest management by giving practical value to theoretical forest services.
- Exclusions:
- Projects centered solely on implementation or community development without scientific grounding.
- Small case studies of limited generality.
- Urban forestry.
- Research Projects
- Novel, high-potential ideas with stakeholder involvement.
- Must include interdisciplinary approaches (optional).
- 10% of the budget for knowledge transfer.
- Focus on general applicability (not local-only).
- Science-Practice Projects
- Collaborative efforts between researchers and practitioners.
- Deliverables: tools, resources, communication products.
- Requires strong engagement and continuity beyond funding period.
- At least two partners from different institutions, with one academic partner.
- Collaborations may include NGOs, government bodies, forest owners, etc.
- Global projects welcome; preference for transboundary collaborations with at least one partner from an OECD country.
- PI must be an established or leading researcher from a recognized institution.
- NEW: each organisation can submit a maximum of two applications per call (in the role of PI or co-PI). If this limit is exceeded, all applications from that institution will be excluded.

- Maximum CHF 100,000 per year.
- Budget can include:
- Salaries, travel, equipment, consumables.
- Knowledge transfer & stakeholder engagement costs.
- Overhead is not Eligible
- Internal deadline to express interest: June 14 2025
- Application deadline: 22 September 2025, 23:59 CEST.
- Final decision: March 2026.
