In this talk, I will mainly focus on introducing some background of Lie superalgebras, i.e. definitions, properties, etc. I will also briefly describe structures of some typical types of Lie superalgebras. Then I will mention my research on centres of centralizers of nilpotent elements in Lie superalgebras and present the main theorem relating the dimension of the centre and labelled Dynkin diagrams.
