Poetry Contest

On the initiative of two students from the Civil Engineering section, the EPFL community is invited to write and present poems on the theme of time. The rules are simple: write in French, in verse and in rhyme, and submit your quatrain, haiku, lament or other acrostic before April 15, 2020.

In our daily lives, we use writing most of the time to communicate, to transmit information or to record knowledge. This poetry contest gives us the opportunity to textualize sensations, impressions, and emotions and to use not only the meaning of words, but also their musicality, rhythm and harmony. We therefore invite you to put down on paper snippets of imagination marked by fantasy, extravagance, mischief, indiscipline, quirkiness, or anything else that comes to mind. Whether lyrical, descriptive, surreal, epic, dramatic, erotic or satirical, all styles are welcome.

Towards the end of April, an internal school jury, composed of staff, students and teachers, will read the poems and award prizes to three of them. A reading and prize-giving ceremony will take place in mid-May at ArtLab's DataSquare.
