The Ministry of Education of India has launched the annual DUO-India Fellowship Programme to promote exchanges of students (incl. postdocs) and professors between India and European ASEM members on a balanced and permanent basis. DUO-India will support the exchanges of 100 pairs of students, and 50 pairs of professors; this is the LARGEST DUO Programme since its inception in 2001.
 
Who can apply:

  • DUO-India requires that a pair (two persons) of students or a pair of professors to be exchanged: one from an Indian and one from a European institution. EPFL is eligible. Follow this link for the list of other eligible institutions.
  • Eligible students: undergraduate, master, doctoral and post-doctorate students who are enrolled in an eligible institution at the time of application and until the start of the exchange. Master and doctoral students are preferred. Students who are already involved in exchange programmes in the fall of 2019 are not eligible.
  • Eligible professors: professors excluding professors emeritus, honorary professors and teaching assistants.
 
Duration:
  • Exchange of students: spring semester (between Jan/Feb and May/June, 2020) or fall semester (between Aug/Sep and Nov/Dec, 2020).
  • Exchange of professors: between January and December 2020 for 3-4 weeks.
 
Funding for students:
  • Europe to India: travel to and from Indian institute (EUR 1’000) + living expenses @250 EURO per month for 4 months (EUR 1’000).
  • India to Europe: travel to and from European institute (EUR 1’000) + living expenses @1’500 EURO per month for 4 months (EUR 6’000).
 
Funding for professors:
  • Europe to India: travel to and from Indian institute (EUR 1’000) + living expenses @2’000 EURO per month for 1 month (EUR 2’000).
  • India to Europe: travel to and from European institute (EUR 1’000) + living expenses @2’000 EURO per month for 1 month (EUR 2’000).
 
Deadline: 31 August 2019  
The institution in India applies on behalf of both the India and the European institution hosting the students/professors.
