The ERA-NET Cofund ICT-AGRI-FOOD aims to support research projects with potential impact to enable digital technology solutions for a transition towards more sustainable and resilient agri-food systems. Research projects should investigate, develop and test digital solutions for the rising demand for food, competition for land and other natural resources from other biomass uses, globalisation, and threats from animal or plant diseases, environmental and climatic changes, public health considerations and economic constraints. Tackling these challenges will require a coordinated transnational approach, which uses the available financial, intellectual and structural resources to maximum effect.

The ICT-AGRI-FOOD 2019 Joint Call consists of 28 national and regional public Funding Parties from 22 countries and 3 European regions. The funds will be provided directly to successful applicants by their respective national/regional Funding Parties and according to national regulations. For Swiss-based applicants, the funding party is the Federal Office of Agriculture FOAG. Eligible consortia will consist of a minimum of 3 independent entities from 3 different EU Member States or Associated Countries, seeking funding from a minimum of 3 different Funding Parties of 3 different countries participating in the Joint Call. Consortia with more than 8 partners should justify the necessity and manageability of the project

Applicants are strongly advised to contact their national contact points before preparing applications for this call.

Duration: min. 24 months, max. 36 months


Overall funding for Swiss partners: approx. CHF 600’000 (545’450 Euros)
Maximum funding for each Swiss applicants: CHF 180’000 (162’000 Euros)
Funding from FOAG is limited to 75% of the total reported costs of the Swiss partner. The remaining costs must be covered by own resources of the applicant or any other third party.

Submission:
Submission by the consortium coordinator using the web-based Online Submission Tool, only accessible after creation of a user account.
An electronic copy of the pre-proposal and of the full proposal must be sent to the National Contact Point no later than the closing date for pre-proposals and full proposals respectively.

Timeline:
Deadline for submission of pre-proposals: 3 March 2020, 13:00 (CET, Berlin time)
Deadline for submission of full-proposals: 6 July 2020, 13:00 (CEST, Berlin time)
Funding decision: 29 September 2020
Expected project start: between December 2020 and February 2021
