The EPFL Research Data Support Network (EPFL-RDSN) — an initiative led by the EPFL Library — aims to strengthen collaboration, connect expertise, and enhance the visibility of research data support services across the institution. Join us for the first EPFL-RDSN gathering to meet peers, share experiences, and exchange ideas on research data practices at EPFL!

PROGRAM

9 :00 – 9 :30 | Welcome & pastries

9:30 – 10:00 | Introduction
Introduction to the EPFL Research Data Support Network (EPFL-RDSN) and an Overview of RDS Explorer.

10:00 – 10:20 | IT4R: Data & Code Support Services @ ENAC
Speaker: Charlie Weil (ENAC IT4R)
Abstract: Experiences from a team of Research software engineers fostering open science and good coding practices at ENAC.

10:20 – 10:40 | Coffee/Tea Break

10:40 – 11:00 | Strategy and Data Management Program in SV
Speaker: Nicolas Argento (SV)
Abstract: How we aim to transition from short-term data handling to sustainable practices that master increasing volumes, leverage appropriate tools, and ensure long-term stewardship in SV research laboratories.

11:00 – 11:20 | Pangea: Managing Laboratory Data with S3 Storage
Speaker: Fabrice David (BICC)
Abstract: We developed Pangea to simplify the use of S3 storage by providing a web interface where users can select and annotate files with metadata before saving them together on S3. It also enables efficient file searches across all lab storage systems (the local machine where Pangea is installed, shared drives and S3 buckets), making it easier to retrieve data or assess redundancy.

11:20 – 11:40 | Conclusion

11:45 | End

Presentations will be given in French, but all slides will be available in English.
