The aim of the Fyssen Foundation is to “encourage all forms of scientific inquiry into cognitive mechanisms, including thought and reasoning, which underlie animal and human behavior; their biological and cultural bases, and phylogenetic and ontogenetic development”. The Foundation supports research in Ethology, Psychology, Neurobiology, Social Anthropology, Ethnology, Human Paleontology and Archaeology.
 
Funding: The research grant could range from 15 000 to 35 000 euros. It intends to cover equipment purchase, budgets dedicated to missions, participations in colloquiums, publications expenses, for the expenses relative to the intervention of specialized persons.
 
Duration: 12 months, non-renewable. At the end, the researchers will have to provide a detailed scientific report in French or in English.
 
You are eligible if:

  • You are either French or foreign post-doctoral researchers, maximum age 35 years for the biological sciences and 40 years in the human sciences, on closing date.
  • Rather already position’s holder, you will independently work establishing a research team to achieve a collective scientific project in a laboratory in France.
  • You can also develop your project in a different laboratory from the one they obtained their doctorate (PhD) or the one where you are working at present.
 
The application’s folder should include the following documents in PDF:
  • Research Grant form (to be filled on our website from September 6th, 2019)
  • Host laboratory invitation letter
  • Recommendation letters from two senior scientists not belonging to the inviting laboratory
  • Applicant’s curriculum vitae and list of publications
  • Description of the research project (5 pages maximum) in French or in English
  • Description of the budget forecasts
  • List of the people who will join the research team for the project
  • List of other financial supports
  • Abstract (150 words) of the research project, as well as a keywords list in French AND in English
