Founded in 1996, the Jérôme Lejeune Foundation is France’s number one funder for research in genetic intelligence disorders conducted in France and abroad.
If you are a researcher investigating on Down syndrome and other intellectual disabilities from genetic origin appearing in early childhood, the Scientific Advisory Board of the Jerome Lejeune Foundation invites you to submit:
- research projects on patients with Down syndrome (Research on Down syndrome should globally represent more than 50% of the overall annual amount) or
- more basic research on human chromosome 21; or
- research on patients with rare intellectual deficit from genetic origin.
The call supports fundamental, translational, epidemiological, clinical research (prioritized), neurobiology, and pharmacology including animal pharmacology, genetic, genomic, iPSCs, and neuropsychology techniques or data analysis.
Through this call the Jerome Lejeune Foundation will also support the organization of conferences, workshops and courses.
Who can apply:
- researchers anywhere in the world.
- holding a long term academic appointment in a hospital, university or research laboratory.
Funding and duration:
- Pilot or exploratory grants: max. EUR 40’000 for up to 24 months for early stage experiments built on preliminary data, or to ancillary projects to primary larger projects. Clinical projects could benefit from more funding.
- Advanced grants (2-4 grants per call): max. EUR 80’000 for up to 24 months for larger breakthrough projects with preliminary data.
Eligible costs: personnel costs (up to 50% of the grant), equipment, materials, 10% overhead, administrative costs/services, travel and meeting.
Deadline: 10 August 2019 close of business (two calls per year in March and August; the next call will be dedicated to both Down syndrome and other rare intellectual disabilities from genetic origin)
Review by the Scientific Advisory Board: mid-November 2019
Decision by the Board of Directors: December 2019
