The meating goal is to review status and application of the Free/Open Source Software (FOSS) Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools at EPFL and CERN. The following main topics (among other related to FOSS) will be briefly discussed:
  • Printed Circuit Board (PCB) design tools (e.g. KiCad and gEDA)
  • High-level modelling tools for PCB and Hardware Description Language (HDL) design (e.g. Libre-FDATool)
  • Analogue and digital simulators (e.g. ngspice, Qucs, Gnucap, Xyce, GHDL, Icarus and Verilator)
  • Technology Computer Aided Design (e.g. NanoTCAD ViDES, Genius-TCAD-Open, DEVSIM Open Source TCAD Project)
  • Compact/SPICE modeling Verilog-A standardization (Verilog-A Compiler for ngspice, Qucs, Gnucap, Xyce)
  • Inter-project opportunities for collaboration

We hope to provide an opportunity for attendees to bring themselves up to date on the latest FOSS EDA developments, share knowledge and identify opportunities to collaborate on development tasks.

All the FOSS EDA/CAD developers and users are also welcome to submit their proposals for coming FOSDEM 2015 Electronic Design Automation Devroom https://penta.fosdem.org/submission/FOSDEM15 before 1 December 2014.
