Romain Gouaty is a researcher at the LAPP (particle physics laboratory of Annecy-le-vieux), he will be talking to us about gravitational waves and their detection. He works in a research team which participates in the VIRGO collaboration (a large interferometer in Italy designed to detect gravitational waves). The team he works with participated in the construction and commissioning of the detector, the calibration and characterisation/analysis of the data.
The conference will be in english. The first part will be a 40 min. presentation by Romain Gouaty and it will be followed by a Q&A. We'll finish the event with an aperitif.
