Abstract

Additive manufacturing based on two-photon polymerization (2PP) has evolved from a scientific curiosity to an industrial mastering and emerging production tool. The talk highlights recent technical advancements based on 2PP and two-photon grayscale lithography (2GL) that increase productivity whilst improving the shape accuracy and surface quality. Additional sub-wavelength alignment capabilities derived from lithography and automation routines opened simplified fabrication routes e.g. in the field of integrated photonics. Enhanced design freedom results in superior performance compared to established but design constrained technologies.
This steady evolution of 2PP with its ever-increasing throughput has led to its gradual implementation in industrial manufacturing environments. The talk focuses on use-cases in various applications from Smart Materials via Inertial Confinement Fusion to Co-packaged Optics.

Bio
Martin Hermatschweiler is co-founder and CEO of Nanoscribe since its foundation in 2007. He studied physics in Ulm and Karlsruhe, Germany. Among others he was chosen by the business magazine “Capital” among Germany’s 40 most-talented entrepreneurs younger than 40 years old.
Under his guidance, business has been built up from scratch starting up with originally three employees. Today, Nanoscribe is a multinational medium-scaled enterprise with 100+ employees located in Karlsruhe, Shanghai and Boston. Nanoscribe is part of the Lab14 group since 2024.
