90% of the ITER budget is devoted to in kind procurements. Switzerland being a EURATOM associated state, the Swiss industry has access to all procurement packages allocated to the European Party. Naturally Swiss industry can also compete for procurement packages allocated to IO and other ITER Parties. But to the opposite to other funded European organizations -such as CERN or ESA- no systematic geographical return to the member states is foreseen. Only open business rules prevail.
In this seminar we give an overview of the Swiss industry fusion branch and their expertise. The awarded contract statistics and the geographical repartition within Europe so far are shown. We put in perspective chances for Swiss companies to obtain ITER procurements until the final construction stage. A few strategies adopted for some specific company profiles are depicted to illustrate the broad spectrum of possible cases. Finally a projection of the total available expected contracts is made and argued against the overall contribution of the Swiss Confederation to the ITER program.
