Every year the Jacobs Foundation awards up to 12 Early Career Postdoctoral Fellowships to postdoctoral researchers, allowing them:
- To conduct independent research of international relevance,
- Improving the learning, development and living conditions of children and youth or
- Contributing to one of the foundation’s thematic priorities: science of learning, early childhood and rural livelihoods.
- In any disciplines. This includes, but is not limited to educational sciences, psychology, economics, sociology, family studies, media studies, political sciences, linguistics, neurosciences, and medical sciences.
- Preference is given to interdisciplinary work that combines genetic, epigenetic, neurobiological, behavioural and social levels of analysis.
Who can apply: postdoctoral researchers up to 10 years after PhD, employed at an institution of higher education or research institute anywhere in the world. If you have been on maternity leave, you may deduct one year per child in calculating the time since receiving your PhD). We will, however, take into account the number of years since you earned your PhD when comparing proposals.
Funding & Duration: CHF 165’000 for 36 months (incl. 10% overheads).
- Covers: up to 50% of the fellow’s salary; partial coverage of any activity supporting the fellow's research, such as assistant salaries, equipment, technical assistance, professional travel, or trainee support; 10% overheads. You are not required to submit a budget.

Start of the fellowship: 1 January 2021
