Through several highlights throughout my career, I will give a personal vision of the important role that EPFL has had in my professional development, in the research I have conducted and in the subjects that still fascinate me.

Biography
László Forró received his B.S. in physics from Eötvös Loránd University, Budapest and M.S. in physics from Paris XI University. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Zagreb in 1985. He has been a Full Professor at the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne since 2002, holding the Chair of Nanostructures and New Electronic Materials. In 2003, he founded the Institute of Physics of Complex Matter and directed it until 2008. In 2020, he retired from EPFL.
His honors: Member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences; Member of the Croatian Academy of Sciences; Member of the Serbian Academy of Sciences; Doctor Honoris Causa of the University of Szeged and the Technical University of Budapest, Hungary; Doppler Chair of the University of Miskolc; Spiridon Brusina Award of the Croatian Society of Natural Sciences, Award of the Serbian Society of Materials Science; ERC Advanced Grant PICOPROP, 2015; Proof of Concept Grant ERC PICOPROP4CT, 2018.
