Category Call for proposal
Personalized Health and Related Technologies (PHRT) is a strategic focus area of the ETH Domain that fosters personalized health research by offering technological knowhow, expertise and capacity from the ETH Domain institutions to medical and clinical partners and by supporting collaborative interdisciplinary research.
With its 3rd call for proposals, PHRT invites clinical scientists who have access to extensive high-quality sample cohorts, to create an inter-institutional, interdisciplinary consortium to formulate a well-defined clinical question and to request funding to generate matched genomic, transcriptomic and proteomic data by the two PHRT technology platforms: the Health 2030 Genome Center in Geneva, and the Clinical Proteotype Analysis Center in Zurich. Data integration, data analysis and data interpretation are an important part of the projects as well.

Sample sets should be already available and approved or reach that state within 3 months after the intended start date. Applicants are strongly recommended to contact as early as possible the platforms to clarify the suitability of their samples and strategies (blood plasma or FFPE samples cannot be analyzed in the context of this grant).

Pioneer Projects: multi '-omics' data collection and interpretation of clinical sample cohorts
Funding amount: max. 500’000 CHF. A total of up to CHF 1.5 million is available for funding 3 to 4 Pioneer Projects to be used for sample processing, data acquisition on PHRT platforms, analysis (note: PHRT funding can only go to PHRT platforms and ETH Domain research groups) and for “clinical services” to prepare samples or compile clinical meta data (for hospitals, universities etc).
Duration: 24 months
Starting date: October 2019
