Each of the four lectures will be devoted to a different aspect of reflections. I will try to show the breadth of directions in this unofficial field of mathematics.
In the first lecture, I will talk about obliquely reflected Brownian motion in fractal domains.Time permitting, I will also discuss discrete approximations of reflected Brownian motion in fractal domains.
The second lecture will be devoted to discrete approximations of random reflectors. Philosophically speaking, this topic is similar to pseudo-random number generators which try to emulate randomness using deterministic algorithms.
The third lecture will be on Brownian motion reflected on a moving boundary. This will be the first of the two lectures showing the interplay between reflected processes and PDE's.
The fourth and final lecture will be on applications of couplings of reflected Brownian motions to the "hot spots" conjecture in PDE's.
The talks will be based on joint research with too many collaborators to be mentioned here (I will mention them in the lectures).
