Are you a Scala user or enthusiast? Do you want to meet other people who are using Scala at EPFL? Then join us for the Scala Lunch!

At this lunch, Shardul Chiplunkar, a PhD student at EPFL, will give a lightning talk advocating for better tooling TASTy is a representation of Scala 3 that is better suited for building Scala tools than the source code directly, because it is richer: source code has been parsed, types have been inferred, some ambiguity has been resolved, etc. before the compiler produces TASTy. However, the format can be tricky to understand if you are new to the concepts in TASTy. So he built TASTyViz, a simple webapp that lets you navigate and inspect TASTy files with a visual interface. This is still very much a prototype—if you work with or want to work with TASTy, he would love to hear feedback about how TASTyViz could be more useful to you! Let's build the next generation of Scala tools!

Scala is a programming language developed at EPFL. It started as an academic programming language to try out better ways to write software and has since become a popular language in the industry. Scala is used in many different domains, from web applications to data science, and is used by many companies, including Twitter, Netflix, Disney, and many more.

The Scala Lunch is an opportunity to share a meal with other EPFL Scala enthusiasts. Bring your lunchbox and join us for a casual meal, find out what excites the others about Scala, and share your own excitement.
