SET Oxidations and Reductions with Organic Reagents
Studer Armido
Institute of Organic Chemistry, University of Münster, Corrensstrasse 40, 48149 Münster, [email protected]
In the presentation novel applications of the persistent TEMPO radical as an environmentally benign oxidant in synthesis will be discussed. The focus lies on transition-metal-free C-C and C-X-bond formations. Along with nitroxides other organic oxidants such as quinones will be presented as oxidants in such processes. Nitroxides and quinones will be discussed as organic oxidants in biomimetic aldehyde oxidations. Oxidative esterifications and redox activation of Michael acceptors will be presented along with mechanistic studies. Finally, TEMPONa will be introduced as a mild reducing reagent for radical arylation and trifluoromethylation reactions.
