[ SNSF COST projects in Switzerland 2020 | Research funding ]

Event details
Date | 05.05.2020 |
Category | Call for proposal |
The SNSF is launching the 2020 call for projects conducted in Switzerland within the scope of COST networks (COST Actions).
The COST programme (European Cooperation in Science and Technology) aims to facilitate breakthrough scientific developments leading to new concepts and products. COST brings together European researchers and enables them to jointly develop their own ideas and new initiatives across all science and technology fields through trans-European cooperation
COST Actions
COST activities are carried out in the form of networks, called COST Actions, which are essentially coordinated research endeavours. A COST Action lasts for four years. COST does not fund research itself, but supports networking via different tools such as meetings, short-term scientific exchanges, training schools and dissemination activities as elements of COST Actions.
Call for proposals 2020
The SNSF is launching the 2020 call for COST projects conducted in Switzerland, within the scope of the recently approved COST Actions of the series CA171##, CA181## or CA182##. Researchers who have gained at least one year's experience since obtaining their doctorate and are actively participating in a COST Action are eligible to apply. Overall, a budget of CHF 5 million is available for the entire call. The requirements are set out in detail in the call document.
A dedicated panel will conduct a scientific evaluation of the applications on the basis of reviews by external experts. The main applicants are highly encouraged to pre-register their project by 16 March 2020*; this will help in defining the composition of the panel.
Deadline: 5 May, 2020, 17:00 Swiss local time
*Pre-registration: In order to facilitate the composition of the evaluation panel, main applicants are highly encouraged to open their COST Project application in mySNF as early as possible, and to indicate the COST Action associated with the application, the disciplines and an outline summary of the planned research. The deadline for pre-registration is 16 March, 2020. Only the data containers corresponding to the above mentioned information need to be filled out in mySNF by this pre-registration deadline, the proposal does not need to be submitted, and can be further processed after this deadline.
