The 3R Competence Center (3RCC) promotes the principles of the Three Rs (Refinement, Reduction, Replacement of animal experimentation) in Switzerland and facilitates their implementation in life sciences with a main focus on high quality research, education and communication.
The 3RCC funding program addresses basic, applied, translational and bench-to-market research that supports the development, optimization, application and implementation of new or modified 3Rs approaches, methods and technologies. Collaborative and multi-centre projects are encouraged.
Who can apply:
- Lead applicants should be Swiss-based researchers who can demonstrate that they will direct the proposed research and be actively engaged in carrying it throughout its duration.
- Applicants must be active in research and/or education-related activities at an eligible institution (see below) in Switzerland at least 50% of their time at the time of submission.
- The minimum formal qualification required is a graduate degree, although it would normally be expected that the applicant has been awarded a PhD, or is a MD or Dr. Med. Vet.
- Less-experienced researchers are encouraged to make their applications in collaboration with a more senior colleague.
Duration: 3 years
Eligible costs: personnel, consumables, equipment, animal costs, travel and meeting costs, publications and communications. Does not cover overheads and other indirect costs.
