Each year, the Swiss Association of Friends of the Weizmann Institute of Science supports a number of postdoctoral fellows from Switzerland, enabling them to come to the Weizmann Institute (Israel) for one year.
 
Candidates may apply for acceptance in any field of research that is pursued at the Weizmann Institute. For information see: www.weizmann.ac.il 
 
The Weizmann Institute of Science, Rehovot, Israel is a multidisciplinary center of research and teaching in the natural sciences and comprises five faculties: Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics and Computer Science, as well as the Feinberg Graduate School. The Institute is located about 20 km south of Tel Aviv.
 
The Swiss Society of Friends of the Weizmann Institute is a Zurich-based association founded by scientists in 1978 to make the scientific research institute and its work more widely known among Swiss research and industry circles as well as the public.
 
Applicants must:
·         Hold Swiss citizenship or have Swiss residency.
·         Meet the academic requirements of the Weizmann Institute of Science.
·         Have a PhD degree.
·         Come from a Swiss academic institution.
·         Be able to return to an academic center in Switzerland after their research stay at the Institute.
 
Applicants must join a letter of support from the department head of the Swiss institute at which the applicant was last enrolled and a letter of invitation from the host professor at the Weizmann Institute. To apply for this fellowship, contact a scientist in whose lab you would like to be trained.
 
Duration: 12 months
 
Funding: The program provides an annual fellowship paid through the Weizmann institute of Science, which replaces the regular WIS fellowship: NIS 9,408  per month + a travel allowance of $2,000 per year, for conferences and professional training.
 
Deadlines: 31 December and 31 July (every year)
