A broad survey of measured and predicted neutron rates in JET reveals that in about half of JET plasmas, the measured neutron rates fall short of predictions, sometimes by as much as by a factor 2. As neutron production in JET is dominated by interactions of fast ions with thermal ions, this indicates the existence of some form of fast ion transport, not accounted for in the modelling. Fortunately, discharges at high beta and high temperature, such as hybrid scenarios, do not experience this deficit. The presentation will review a range of possible candidate processes, several of which have already been excluded from being significant contributors at the current stage of this ongoing investigation.
