Abstract: In a classical integrable system with a Lax pair, the positions of the poles of the eigenvectors of the Lax matrix form a set of separated coordinates on the phase space. I will show, on the example of the Toda chain, how these coordinates can be generalized to the quantum model, thus providing a solution of the quantum inverse problem for the Toda chain.
