The theory of optimal control of systems governed by partial differential equations can be used to solve identification and control problems in plasma physics. We will present applications to the following inverse problems: identification of free plasma boundary and real-time plasma equilibrium reconstruction. We will also show how these techniques can be useful for optimizing a plasma scenario by computing a feedforward control applied to the poloidal field circuits and which minimize an appropriate cost-function. Applications will be given for various Tokamaks (WEST, ITER,..).
