The half wave equation is a mass critical Hamiltonian PDE in one space dimension, which admits traveling waves with arbitrarily small mass. We shall show how the interaction of two such traveling waves can lead to the growth of high Sobolev norms. This is a jointwork with E. Lenzmann (Basel), O. Pocovnicu (Edinburgh) and P. Raphael (Nice).
