The Volkswagen Stiftung funding initiative Experiment! – In search of bold research ideas addresses researchers in science and engineering as well as in the life sciences (including immediately neighbouring disciplines in the behavioural sciences) who want to put a potentially transformative and risky research idea to the test. The initiative supports daring research projects, which drop out of regular funding schemes due to their early stage or unorthodoxy, disregarding a high project risk and the vagueness of a successful outcome. The choice of topics is free.
Who can apply:
- The PI must be a postdoctoral researcher or a professor in Germany.
- Swiss-based researchers can be involved as international partners. They must hold a doctorate degree, a habilitation or a professorship appointment.
Funding & Duration: Up to EUR 120'000 for up to 18 months.
- Eligible costs: Salaries and project-related costs (incl. funding for international partners).
- Does NOT cover overheads.
