You can apply to participate and find all the relevant information (speakers, abstracts, program,...) on the event website: https://www.cecam.org/workshop-details/3rd-cecam-discussion-meeting-on-quantum-crystallography-1370.

Registration is required to attend the full event, take part in the social activities and present a poster at the poster session (if any).  However, the EPFL community is welcome to attend specific lectures without registration if the topic is of interest to their research. Do not hesitate to contact the CECAM Event Manager if you have any question.

Description

Scope: The future of quantum crystallography will be discussed and hopefully seeded at this discussion meeting. It will not be a conference where research results are presented, but the workshop will focus on discussion rounds (guided and open) centred around young researchers and newcomers, including scientists from the periphery of QCr, plus senior and retired colleagues. We will ensure that it is these groups of scientists that lead the discussions, instead of established PIs. We believe that this format will be especially useful to develop ideas that make QCr benefit from the revolution of artificial intelligence and big-data treatment, for which the field is especially susceptible, while maintaining the school of thought and the skillset unique to QCr.

Topics:

  • How do we best harvest ideas of newcomers and junior researchers, while consolidating the foundations?
  • How can QCr and related fields mutually fertilize each other?
  • How can we better unify and arrange technical and software developments?
  • How can these technical developments be streamlined for scientific discovery?
  • As a data-driven field, how do we utilize artificial intelligence for QCr method development?
  • What are the future community-driven projects?
Registration: Registration is closed.

Selection: There is a limitation to the number of participants. Therefore, we cannot confirm your participation straight away. Priority will be given to young researchers. We will send you a decision e-mail at the latest at the end of September.

Bursaries: Financial support for travelling and accommodation will be available in form of bursaries. We will send all accepted participants an e-mail with details how to apply for bursaries.

DEI Statement: The organizers of this meeting value diversity, equality, and inclusion. They will actively strive for gender, regional and topical balance when constructing the programme of this meeting. At the present moment of registration, as an example, 35% of the speakers are female.
