Since ChatGPT's release two months ago, students and teachers have discovered novel ways of integrating language models into their learning and teaching. However, their systemic application in an educational context remains an open question (and concern!). In this session, I'll give a brief overview of language models such as ChatGPT, what they looked like 5 years ago, and how we should prepare for the future impact they may have in learning and pedagogy.
