[ CYD Fellowships - A Talent Program for Cyber-Defence Research - Third Call for Applications ]
To promote research and education in cyber-defence, EPFL, the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne, and the Cyber-Defence (CYD) Campus have jointly launched the “CYD Fellowships – A Talent Program for Cyber-Defence Research.”
CYD Fellowships are designed to promote new solutions to major challenges in the fields of security and data science by bringing together basic and applied research. They are open to researchers at master, doctoral, or postdoctoral level who are willing to engage with cross-cutting issues in cyber-defence, with a particular emphasis on:
- novel technologies for protecting the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of cyber and cyber-physical systems
- privacy-enhancing technologies
- data science and artificial intelligence methods for analysing cyber- and technology-relevant data
- research on vulnerabilities and backdoors in digital systems
The CYD Fellowships are supported by armasuisse Science and Technology.
What: 6-month CYD Master Thesis Fellowships (living allowance and research funds)
4-year (with a possible one-year extension) CYD Doctoral Fellowships (salary and research and conference funds)
(up to) 2-year CYD Distinguished Postdoctoral Fellowships (salary and research and conference funds)
Where: CYD fellows are hosted by a higher education institution in Switzerland and conduct their research at the CYD Campus located on the premises of EPFL and ETHZ and in its office in Thun. The CYD Campus is a cyber-competence center acting as an anticipation platform for identifying and assessing technologies, commercial and social cyber trends, as well as the resulting usage scenarios.
Eligibility: Citizens of any nationality can apply
CYD Master Thesis Fellowships: applicants must be enrolled in a Master program at a Swiss higher education institution and receive the endorsement of a professor willing to supervise them
CYD Doctoral Fellowships: applicants must be accepted into a doctoral program at a Swiss higher education institution and receive the endorsement of a professor willing to supervise them
CYD Distinguished Postdoctoral Fellowships: applicants must receive the endorsement of a professor at a Swiss higher education institution willing to supervise them and plan to conduct their postdoctoral research funded by a Distinguished Postdoctoral Fellowship in a different laboratory from the one of their doctoral and (if applicable) of their current postdoctoral research.
