Follow dancers on a unique tour of the RLC! On four dates in March, the campus community is invited to stroll through the building, led by dancers and choreographers Corinne Rochet and Nicholas Pettit of Lausanne-based dance company Utilité publique.

  • How can we re-appropriate spaces that we no longer see in our daily lives?
  • How can we discover the unknown in the familiar?
  • How can we experience intimate moments in an internationally renowned public building?
  • How can we slow down time?
These sensory wanderings are timeless episodes, allowing us to live an original experience in a workspace that we visit every day. They are an opportunity to question ourselves about our use of a place and the speed of our time.

The Rolex Learning Center celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2020!
We are familiar with its steep slopes and gentle climbs; we appreciate its spaces for rest, conviviality and work; and we regularly enjoy the surrounding landscape and its variations in light. Strolling around the RLC will allow our bodies and minds to wander differently in this place, and to pay attention to unexpected details. We will be called upon to dialogue with gravity, to play with ground contact and space, to amplify our perceptions and to relax our relationship with time. These wanderings invite us to set imaginary worlds in motion and promise a beneficial, individual and collective, gentle, meditative, joyful and unusual drift.

Corinne Rochet and Nicholas Pettit, professional dancers and choreographers, founded the contemporary dance school Marchepied in Lausanne in 2001. They accompanied the creation of the Bachelors in Contemporary Dance at the Manufacture performing arts school in Lausanne, and at the ZHdK in Zurich. In 2003, they created the Utilité publique dance company. Their pieces reflect a world that is both graphic and poetic, focusing on the development of a dance vocabulary and of formal and aesthetic research close to the plastic arts. Their commitment as choreographers and pedagogues allows them to lead participative artistic projects with professionals, as well as with amateurs and non-dancers.
