Title: If the human being goes digital, ethics goes digital: Ethics at the human-machine interface
Abstract: Emerging technologies such as brain-computer interfaces (BCIs) establish a direct connection pathway between humans and machines, i.e. between the biological and the digital world. This presentation will explore the ethical implications of BCIs and identify key societal challenges at the human-machine interface.
Bio: Marcello Ienca is a scientific collaborator and ERA-NET Group Leader at CDH. His research focuses on the ethics of neurotechnology, artificial intelligence, big data, digital health and human-machine interaction. He is an expert advisor to the Council of Europe’s Ad Hoc Committee on Bioethics and a member of the Steering Group on Neurotechnology and Society of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation & Development (OECD).
