[ Durham University – Addison Wheeler Fellowship | Fellowship Funding ]

Event details
Date | 07.02.2020 |
Category | Call for proposal |
Aim: The Durham University Addison Wheeler Fellowships are designed to provide early career researchers of outstanding promise with three years to pursue original ideas, free from teaching and administrative responsibilities.
Addison Wheeler Fellowships are funded through the bequest of Addison James Wheeler to encourage 'efforts for increased knowledge of people and their make-up so as to enable them to make better use of their life here on Earth'. Addressing this aspiration is one of the conditions of the Fellowships but it is intended to be interpreted broadly and should not be seen as restrictive.
The Fellowships are aimed at researchers of a high caliber, who have completed their PhD at the time of application and are at an early stage in their career. Fellows will pursue new research ideas of their own design, undertaken in collaboration within academic researchers at Durham University.
Funding: £33,797– £40,322 p.a. (starting salary), plus research allowance and benefits
Duration: 36 months, starting 01-Oct-2020
Eligibility: Researchers should be of high caliber with an established or emerging international reputation for scholarship and research leadership. They should be actively engaged in translating academic research and scholarship into policy, public practice, and/or technological innovation. They should hold a PhD by the closing date of the application period, ideally with 2-5 years of postdoctoral research experience. As a member of the Durham academic staff will act as Host and Mentor for each Fellow, applicants must seek the agreement of a Durham academic to act as their host before applying.
How to Apply: To apply for an Addison Wheeler Fellowship you will need to submit application materials through the Durham University online application system under vacancy reference 19000230. The application must include the following components: a letter of application, a CV, a research plan, and the names of two potential referees. You must arrange for your referees to submit their references to the Human Resources email <[email protected]> by the closing date for application (07 February 2020). As part of the application process a proforma will need to be completed by the host academic and the Head of the Department/School in which you propose to undertake your research. The signed proforma needs to be submitted to Human Resources at the same address above by the closing date.
Deadline: 07-Feb-2020
