Summary of the program
ERC Advanced Grants are for established, leading scientists who seek funding for ambitious research projects. The proposed research should address important challenges, introduce novel concepts and approaches and lead to significant breakthroughs.
The ERC Advanced Grant call 2020 is the last one in the framework of the current European research program “Horizon 2020”. Since the status of Switzerland for the upcoming European research program “Horizon Europe” is still uncertain, applications for this year’s call are recommended in case applicants are prepared.
Who can apply
Applicants to the ERC Advanced Grants are expected to be outstanding research leaders with a track record of significant research achievements in the last 10 years. They should be exceptional leaders in terms of originality and significance of their research contributions.
Funding & Duration
An amount of EUR 2.5 million can be claimed for a period of 5 years. An additional EUR 1 million may be requested for “start-up” if moving from a third country, the purchase of major equipment, access to large facilities and/or major experimental and field work costs.
Submission deadline
The 2020 call opened on May 14th with a deadline for proposal submissions on the 26th of August this year.
