The character variety is an affine scheme parametrizing semisimple local systems. In this talk, I will explain how one can construct a perverse character variety, parametrizing semisimple perverse sheaves.
I will start with an introduction about how this problem arises from the geometry of the Riemann-Hilbert correspondence. I will then introduce the key players of this talk and give the main results.
