Intermediation platforms have become a major new player in our economies. They offer essential services similar to energy supply, are adopted by a large part of the world population, challenge public administrations, shake legal systems, compete with the oil industry for market capitalization, while disrupting an increasing number of economic sectors. They have led to new social ecosystems, allowing to develop new services, as well as to contribute in a cooperative manner to global efforts both in the private and the public sphere. Their role in understanding and acting on natural ecosystems should be determinant as well in the near future.

The objective of the seminar is to gather researchers from different disciplines to analyze the impact of data on both social and natural ecosystems, and to understand the emerging ecosystems of data. The first session will be devoted to technical issues on data, its production and transformation into services. In the second session, we will specifically address natural ecosystems, while the last session will be devoted to social ecosystems. The seminar will be open to issues related to economy, law, political sciences, participation, urban planning, smart environment, anthropocene, etc.

The format of the seminar is intended to maximize discussions. Presentations will be kept to a maximum of 15 minutes followed by 45 minutes of discussion. The seminar aims to attract a mix of faculty members and advanced researchers. Advanced students (max. 20) interested in the field are also welcome.
