The digital transformation is creating scientific and technological opportunities, such as the MetaMedia Center’s initiative to preserve the Montreux Jazz Festival archives. The MetaMedia Center as well as the Montreux Jazz Café will be offering interactive tours of the archives and explanations of the technology behind the project. The tours will be available from 10am to 5pm.
Alain Dufaux, head of the MetaMedia Center, will describe the cross-disciplinary work being carried out at the center to digitize and preserve the Jazz Festival’s audiovisual collection. Over 11,000 hours of videos, 6,000 hours of audio and more than 180,000 photos have been digitized since 2010, and they have become valuable research material for scientists at several EPFL labs.
