The Hasler Stiftung promotes Information and Communications Technology (ICT) for the well-being and benefit of Switzerland as an intellectual and industrial centre. The Foundation mainly supports educational, research and innovation projects where the aim is to promote the further development of ICT or innovative applications of ICT. With regards to research, the Foundation supports original and scientifically sophisticated research projects at Swiss universities, which are relevant for ICT theory or practice, which promote education in ICT, and which address the socially relevant effects of ICT.
 
The Hasler Stiftung Open Support programme for Small projects (max. CHF 50K) and Standard projects support pre-competitive scientific or technical research projects in the general field of ICT in cases where public funding (e.g. SNSF/Innosuisse) cannot be accessed. Projects must be based in Switzerland. The Foundation supports projects that promote education in ICT, address the social effects of ICT or interdisciplinary projects where findings from or cooperation with other disciplines stimulate ICT.
 
These grants support:

  • stand-alone projects,
  • projects that help prepare for public funding applications or
  • the continuation of completed SNSF/Innosuisse/other grants.
 
Who can apply:
  • The principal investigator must be employed by a higher education, research institution or non-profit organisation in Switzerland. Companies and individuals are not eligible.
  • Non-independent PIs must join a letter of support from the head of their unit (“backer”). Submit the letter to [email protected] at least 7 days prior to the deadline for institutional countersignature. 
 
Funding and Duration:
  • Small Projects: Max. CHF 50’000 for up to 12 months.
  • Standard Projects: No maximum funding for up to 36 months.
 
Rolling call
  • Small projects: decision reached in 30 days.
  • Standard projects: contact the Foundation prior to the submission. Decision reached in approx. 8 months.
