Les enjeux du stockage électrochimique et de l’hydrogène en Suisse et en Europe
In the context of energy supply shortages in Switzerland and in Europe, electrochemistry will play an even larger role in the storage of electricity either for mobility or stationary applications, in the capture of CO2 and in hydrogen production. We shall review the latest technical developments including photo-pyrolysis and how these will impact the energy transition and their geopolitical consequences.
Biography
After a PhD at the University of Southampton (England) in 1982, Hubert Girault was Lecturer at the University of Edinburgh (Scotland), before joining EPFL in 1992 as Professor of Physical Chemistry. Apart from his administrative duties (Section Director, Institute Director, Dean of the Bachelor/Master studies, VP PPUR,..), he has supervised 70 PhD students and many post-doctoral fellows. More than 30 alumni of his laboratory are now Professors around the world. His fields of interest have been fundamental electrochemistry, and its analytical and energy applications.
