Abstract
Interested in learning how to extract quantitative measurements of particle dynamics?
This session will focus on single-particle tracking, covering both the theory and practical applications using TrackMate, a widely-used open-source plugin for Fiji. We will start with an introduction to tracking theory, with an emphasis on particle detection and linking. In the second part, we will transition from theory to practice with a live demonstration of TrackMate. This hands-on session will guide you through TrackMate's features and workflow using a training dataset. Participants are also welcome to bring their own datasets to explore TrackMate's functionalities. The session will conclude with a discussion on how AI is advancing particle tracking — from improving single-particle tracking algorithms to enabling robust multi-object tracking with tools like CoTracker. This lunch session is ideal for researchers facing challenges in single-particle tracking and looking to improve their understanding of the methodology.
