lunch&LEARN: Using videos for student feedback and assessment
In this lunch&LEARN session, Aled Davies of Cardiff University, will firstly share lessons learned when providing student feedback via video rather than written formats on large PBL engineering modules. Reflections include preparation, best practice, workload, student expectations and closing the feedback loop.
The second part highlights how video assignments were used to challenge students to present technical engineering work while outlining their understanding of what they had done and why. This approach was designed to subtly enhance student learning from mere comprehension and application to higher levels of learning through analysis, evaluation and reflection. He will outline the impact of both approaches on student learning and staff workload, while outlining future developments.
