We seem to live in the age of stress, depression, and anxiety. At universities, students, young researchers, and staff of all ages are faced with pressure to perform while navigating the uncertainty of rapidly changing job markets and social networks. In parallel, the digital environment has evolved into a minefield of applications that can be both attention-sucking and productivity-enhancing at the same time. Our old tools seem to be a poor fit for this new age. What can we do?

In this event, we explore common thought patterns that tend to hinder our productivity. We address how certain mindsets can enhance motivation, attention, and creativity; increase our resilience to stress, anxiety and burnout; and enhance our well-being and work-life balance.

We will begin with a talk by Desiree Dickerson, a neuroscientist and clinical psychologist, who specialises in helping academic institutions and academics themselves curate a healthier approach to research. The talk is followed by a conversation with Marcel Salathé, and then open to discussion with the audience.

Please note that this event is highly overbooked; come early if you want to be in the room. But the event is also broadcast live on Zoom - please consider joining there.
