I will talk about the use of multiresolution techniques and frames in the area of biomedical imaging. Experiments on diverse data sets showed that multiresolution techniques and frame in particular have great promise in classification of biomedical images. This prompted us to to pursue two lines of work: trying to explain in a mathematically rigorous way why frame perform so well in practice, as well as design new families of frames tailored to such applications.
