A group homomorphism is called a geomorphsism in dimension n if it is the homomorphism induced on the fundamental groups by a map between closed orientable n-manifolds, this map being of nonzero degree. This turns out to be a quite interesting notion. In this talk, we shall discuss necessary and/or sufficient conditions for a group homomorphism to be a geomorphism in degree n>= 4.
