This workshop is commemorating the 50-th Anniversary of IEEE Region 8 foundation in January 2013 in Geneva, which was formally preceded by the foudation of Geneva's IRE Section in 1960 (later to become Switzerland's IEEE Section) at ITU - International Telecommunications Union.
Jean Lebel, Founder of IEEE France's Section, held the position of second IEEE Region 8 Director 1965-1966.
