The three-day workshop is aimed at preparing postdocs for their next career step and complementing their ample repertoire of technical qualifications with essential soft skills. As such, it will provide an intensive, highly interactive and fun crash course in the soft skills underlying professional success, in both academic and non-academic careers. At the same time, the workshop provides a great opportunity to network and establish collaborations among the participants.

“Selling your Science (and yourself)!” - Jen Rolfe
A practical approach to presenting science to a non-specialist audience, with tips and techniques from "fabulous facilitation" concepts: "mindset", "integrity", "connection" and "engagement". Participants spend the morning learning the new ideas, and then deliver prepared talks which are filmed. They give and receive individual feedback and take away structured action points.

“Leadership for global leaders!” - Anne-Marie Turcotte
An overview of some of the key skills necessary to be an effective leader in a global context and gain a better understanding of the challenges leaders face today. This workshop combines a blend of method, practical tools, exercises and role plays and will provide you with the opportunity put these skills into practice.

“Successful collaborations and negotiations!”  - Fernanda Salina
A practical and theoretical approach to negotiation in order to promote successful collaborations. Participants will learn, experience and practice a set of negotiation techniques to prevent, manage and solve effectively professional as well as personal disputes.

Under the EuroTech umbrella, the workshop is FREE OF CHARGE for the 45 participants from the four partner universities. Postdocs external to the EPFL campus are acommodated on site, in the SwissTech Hotel EPFL, catering is organised at campus restaurants and a fondue dinner at the Chalet Suisse restaurant in the Sauvablin Parc, overlooking the Lake Geneva and the Alps is included.
