SCNAT call to support a new research network

The Swiss Academy of Sciences (SCNAT) currently funds the coordination offices of global research networks.

This call aims at supporting an additional research network for topic-specific interdisciplinary research with a head office in Switzerland.

The call does NOT fund: research-driven networks for direct research purposes; participation in international research institutions and financing of cost-intensive large-scale facilities.

Requirement to apply: the parent institution (Cantonal Swiss University, ETH Domain, including EPFL, or Universities of Applied Sciences) must be willing to host the research network for the entire duration of the contract (responsible legal entity) and to contribute to it (e. g. infrastructure, staff, cofinancing).

Eligible costs: funding can be used for infrastructure costs, but not for the applicants' salary.

Duration: 12-36 months

Timeline of the call:

• Deadline for pre-proposals: 7 May 2023.
• Decision and invitation to submit full proposal: Mid-June 2023
• Deadline for full proposals: 12 August 2023
• Decision: 1 November 2023
• Earliest start: 1 January 2024
