[ SERI | Seed Money Grants with Latin America ]

The State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI) has commissioned the University of St. Gallen (UNISG) as Leading House for bilateral research collaboration with Latin American institutions for the period 2017-2020.

UNISG is pleased to announce the launch of the 2020 Seed Money Grants call. The goal of the Seed Money Grants is to strengthen or initiate scientific exchange between researchers from Swiss and Latin American institutions in all disciplines by enabling them to jointly undertake preliminary research and organize meetings, conferences, or workshops.

Seed Money Grants are particularly useful to develop joint project proposals to be submitted to large funding agencies or to combine already existing and independently funded projects. Priority is given to researchers/projects without previous funding, e.g. SNF or Leading House Grants.

The call is open to mono- or interdisciplinary research projects in any disciplines involving bilateral or multilateral partnerships between Swiss and Latin American institutions.

Who can apply:

• Each application must have one PI based in a Swiss institution and one in a Latin American institution.
• PIs must hold a faculty or a scientist position at an accredited university or public research institute or hold a PhD + several years of research experience.
• Applications that include Master and PhD students must be submitted by their supervisors.
• The Swiss-based PI is responsible for the submission of the application and, if successful, for the management of the grant.

• Eligible costs: project-related costs, travel, workshops, conferences, consumables, accommodations and fieldwork.
• Does NOT cover: personnel costs, tuition fees, outsourced services, hardware and overheads.
• Financial contributions from each side of the partnership are expected.
