The Society of Natural Sciences of the Canton of Vaud (Société vaudoise des Sciences naturelles - SVSN) was founded in 1819 to support the study, advancement and diffusion of the natural sciences, exact sciences and other related sciences.
 
To celebrate its 200th anniversary, the SVSN, in partnership with Société Académique Vaudoise (SAV), offers 1 grant (Bourse du 200ème) to a young researcher in the Canton Vaud for a 1-year research project in any SVSN disciplines: mathematics, chemistry, physics, zoology, botany, earth sciences, methodology and history of sciences.
 
Both basic and applied research is supported. Only new projects are eligible for funding (e.g. the grant cannot be used to finish a thesis or a project). The project should preferably be linked to the Vaud territory.
 
Who can apply:

  • PhD students and PostDocs at EPFL, UNIL or HES.
  • Applications can be submitted by more than one applicant.
 
Funding & Duration: CHF 30’000 for 12 months (January-December 2020)
Eligible costs: allowance (max. CHF 15’000), materials and consumables, travel expenses, fieldwork and analysis work. Does NOT cover personnel, conference costs, overheads.
 
Deadline: 2 September 2019 at 24h00
Decision: November 2019

Grantee’s responsibilities: scientific and financial reports, attend the anniversary ceremony in November 2019 and publish an article in the SVSN bulletin.
